Classes

Join us for one of our fun and informative classes. What’s old and new again about Godsell Farm!

About 18 years ago, we discovered that they both loved recycling, or rather repurposing and started a business called MA & PA Creations. MA for Mark and PA for Pam! Clever huh! We did well traveling around Wisconsin with our crafts and demonstrations but farm life and events took over causing us to stay more focused on the farm and staying close by.Now I can’t say that things have settled down at the farm, in fact, they are busier than ever but our focus has changed a bit. The farm continues to focus on providing the freshest possible vegetables to our CSA/Farm Members and last year added Food with Roots Farm dinners , events and Classes.

We currently offer Gardening Classes, Backyard Chicken Keeping, Bread Making, Cheese Making and will again go back to our roots of crafting using our own ideas (and Pinterest!) to excite and help people create unique art for the home. were you can make some of your favorite Pinterest projects! All classes require advance registration and are held rain or shine. Check back often for new class dates!

Today, most city ordinances allow backyard chickens in moderation.  If you have always wanted your very own fresh eggs, this is the class for you! You will learn what is involved with raising egg laying hens (you don’t need a noisy rooster either!), what type of shelter they need, how to care for them, when will they start laying and much more.

Participants will receive a brooder starter kit that contains a heat lamp, feeder, waterer, bedding and chick feed as well as 3 starter hens.  We will also provide some simple plans on building your own coop or where you can purchase a kit.

You will also receive valuable information on what to fill your newly constructed beds with and how to do it properly.  Not all soil is alike!  We've got supplier recommendations for you that will save you money and give you maximum results due to superior soil fertility.

Pint or quart milk containers, some Chinese take-out containers (the ones without metal), or similar. Metal, plastic, glass, plastic bags, and paper bags won't work! Our teacher will be demonstrating "cold-process" soap making, and will talk a little about "hot-process" and "melt-and-pour."
